I made the 1 hr. drive to Shreveport, LA today to get the autograph of Billy Cannon, the 1959 Heisman Trophy winner from LSU. He was doing a free signing and was as nice as could be. In addition to winning the Hesiman, he also led LSU to its first national championship and is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He went on to have a terrific pro career and was one of the most celebrated players in the AFL. Mr. Cannon signed a LSU 8x10 and two 1997 Upper Deck cards (one of which is for a member of Sportsgraphing.com.)
Here's the update from the 2008 Texas Rangers fan fest. I left my house around 4:00 AM and made the 3 1/2 hr. drive to Arlington. My first goal of the day was to get there early enough to be near the front of the line for tickets to get Michael Young's autograph. As luck would have it, I was one of the first people through the gates and made the sprint across the stadium to the ticket lines. If you're not familiar with the Rangers Fan Fest, they give autograph tickets to the first 250 people in line for the respective players who are signing at certain times. You're then guaranteed an autograph of that player. Long story short, I got Michael Young on the sweetspot of a ROMLB. The rest of the day was spent going from line to line getting as many of the players as possible. I was very pleased with my successes, and the only player I missed that I really wanted was Ian Kinsler. I don't do too much in person autographing, so I was like a kid in a candy store today! A big thanks goes out to Nancy for helping give tips on where to go for the different autos. My plans are to do more in person autographing this sesaon by going to some Texas League games in Little Rock and Frisco, as well as a few big league games with the Rangers. I'll go ahead and list the various players and quantities that I got, then I'll follow up with today's TTM successes.
